Do IAS, IPS, and IRS officers need to compromise with political leaders during work in an area?
The Power of an IAS Officer
Transport Minister Thomas Chandy resigned after his corruption was exposed by District Collector T.V. Anupama.
He illegally built a resort on poor people's paddy land, violating the Kerala Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Act.
Despite the allegations, the minister tried to hold on to his position. He even went to the Kerala High Court asking for Anupama’s inquiry report to be dismissed. The court not only rejected his request but also criticized him for challenging his own government. His fate was sealed.
In 2014, Anupama was appointed as the Food Safety Commissioner. She had a party leader arrested for demanding ‘Nokkukooli’ (a form of illegal money). She collected over 6,000 food samples during random checks across the state, finding many to be adulterated. On 3rd September 2015, Anupama banned the Nirapara brand of spices after discovering they had more starch than allowed.
Anupama's achievements as an IAS officer are countless.
She once said, “There is a greater good in what we do as civil servants. I chose this field to serve the public and work in many different areas.” Anupama secured the fourth rank in the UPSC exams in 2010.
T.V. Anupama is a proud example of our nation.
She doesn't wear ornaments or makeup. The only decoration she values is the three letters "IAS" after her name.
