The Power of an IAS Officer Transport Minister Thomas Chandy resigned after his corruption was exposed by District Collector T.V. Anupama. He illegally built a resort on poor people's paddy land, violating the Kerala Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Act. Despite the allegations, the minister tried to hold on to his position. He even went to the Kerala High Court asking for Anupama’s inquiry report to be dismissed. The court not only rejected his request but also criticized him for challenging his own government. His fate was sealed. In 2014, Anupama was appointed as the Food Safety Commissioner. She had a party leader arrested for demanding ‘Nokkukooli’ (a form of illegal money). She collected over 6,000 food samples during random checks across the state, finding many to be adulterated. On 3rd September 2015, Anupama banned the Nirapara brand of spices after discovering they had more starch than allowed. Anupama's achievements as an IAS officer are countless. She once sai...

Will Google ever go out of business?

Yes, Google might go out of business sooner than we think. Companies fail when they become irrelevant. Google could quickly disappear if they don’t adapt faster than the technologies they use to reach their users. For example: Why did Google create the Chrome browser? It was a defensive move. If Internet Explorer or any other browser blocked them, Google could have been wiped out overnight. Why did Google buy Android? This was another strategic move. If iOS or any other mobile system blocked them, they could have disappeared overnight. Why is Google competing in the AI speaker market against Alexa and Siri? Again, it’s a strategic move. If web browsers become obsolete, Google could become irrelevant overnight. Now, the bigger question is, will Alphabet die soon? Google is now part of a parent company called Alphabet. Alphabet allows Google to separate side projects into their own businesses. Alphabet isn’t going anywhere soon. It will remain one of the most powerful companies in the Di...

In simple terms, some people are upset because they wanted a Middle Eastern actress for the role, but a half-English, half-Indian actress was cast instead. Normally, I would criticize poor movie decisions, but in this case, Disney made the right choice. The fictional Sultanate of Agrabah from the original cartoon isn’t actually in the Middle East. You won’t find a palace like Sultan Hamed II Bobolonius’s (yes, that’s his full name) in the Middle East (though it might be found in Oman). But do you know where you can find something similar? In India. The Taj Mahal, located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, is a famous mausoleum built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal in 1632. The Mughals were Sunni Muslims from present-day Uzbekistan who took control of India in the 16th century and ruled until the British took over in 1857. And guess what else comes from India? Tigers. As for the clothes, they’re inspired by Ottoman Turkish fashion, from a completely different part of the Isl...
