Are Tamilians over the moon that Kamala Harris will become the USA’s Vice President?

Why should we be so excited?

Kamala Harris is an American. She was born in the United States and is a citizen of that country. Her loyalty lies entirely with the USA.

I don’t understand why we’re celebrating so much. Sure, if someone like Thalapathy Vijay, Vadivelu, Palaniswami, or even Dinakaran became Vice President of the USA, that would be something to cheer about. But why should we be overjoyed just because Kamala Harris, who is the Vice President-elect, has some Indian roots?

This obsession with connecting people to India doesn’t make sense. We’ve linked Biden to the East India Company and now claim Kamala Harris is a Tamilian.

Let’s be realistic—her decisions or foreign policy regarding India won’t be influenced by her roots. It’s like saying an African American senator would favor Gabon or Gambia just because their ancestors came from there. It doesn’t work that way.
